Ave., are planning a $60 million RV community called Westside Resort at 670 S. Rooney
Road. The property is nearly 36 acres directly bordered by Interstate 70 and C-470 in
Golden, just north of the off-road racing park called Thunder Valley Park. Tompkins and
Miklos purchased the property for $3 million in 2021, according to Jefferson County
records.
“This property has been on my radar for quite a number of years. Initially, we were
thinking of expanding Dirty Dogs here and proposing a 40,000-square-foot facility over
there,” Miklos said.

With a computer animation of their new house projected on the wide screen at the far end of their architect’s conference room, Alison and Nate Meadows finally allow themselves a moment to breathe. A few clicks of the mouse and a small loop of the architect’s hand swings into view a 360-degree rendering of the home on Saint Andrews Lane: a two-story modern farmhouse, resplendent in bright white, with a black metal roof and a front porch.

After about two years of business Copper Sky Distillery has outgrown its location on Colorado Avenue and is moving its operations to the South Main Street area. The veteran-owned distillery specializing in whiskey and rum opened its doors in 2020 at 1115 Colorado Ave, not long before pandemic closures weighed on Copper Sky’s taproom. But despite the hurdles, the young distillery grew fast with wholesale and needs a larger space to meet its demand, according to owner and founder Mike Root.

He did it with Adventure Trekkers, a mountain biking travel co-op he started with another business partner in 1980. He did it in 1985 when he started a construction company in Denver called Classic Homeworks. And he did it again in 2012 when he and his wife started AION Investments so they could invest in single-family homes across the state.

Now retired, Pratt’s latest project is to build an uber-efficient home near Silverthorne.
